    Join us on Sunday, June 14 for Butter Together, a brand-new pairing experience built around three things that never let you down: great bread, really good butter, and artisanal wine.

    We pulled together a small lineup of Northern Michigan makers we genuinely love, then built the pairings around what they do best. You’ll taste breads and butters from Farm Club and 9 Bean Rows, plus a German-style rye Vollkornbrot from Martin Sorge, winner of The Great American Baking Show and a long-time FIZZ Club member. We are also excited to feature pre-orders of Martin's upcoming cookbook, Great Bakes: Modern Classic Recipes from the Midwest before its August 4, 2026 release.

  • From Mill to Table: Baking with Whole & Stone-Ground Grains

    Discover the rich depth that whole, stone-ground grains bring to your baking. Hosted by home baker and author Martin Sorge, with highlights from his new cookbook Great Bakes: Modern Classic Recipes from the Midwest. Martin will explain how to use these flavor-forward flours in recipes. This demonstration will feature Michigan-grown grains milled at Traverse City's Farm Club. Nic Theisen of Farm Club will join to discuss their grains, milling, and offer more baking tips. We'll craft three easy recipes: a hearty loaf, tender muffins, and an irresistible sweet treat — proof that whole grains are the future of baking. Ample tastes, coffee and tea included!

    Martin will be joined in conversation by the founding editor of Taste, Matthew Rodbard.  Matt is a writer, editor, and author of food and culture books with more than two decades of experience working in television, magazines, book publishing, and online media. He’s the author of several cookbooks and the Founding Editor of online food and culture magazine Taste.

    Seating begins at 3:00 p.m. with programming starting at 4:00 p.m. at Traverse City Food & Wine’s tent at the Open Space. Seating is general admission. At the end of the conversation, we’ll invite guests to participate in a Q&A with Sorge & Rodbard.

    Indulge in artful bites and inspired dishes made from the bounty of northern Michigan's fields, orchards, and waters. Sip on local wines and craft beverages, learn from renowned chefs, and enjoy iconic views of West Grand Traverse Bay.

    The Main Stage at the Grand Tasting will be hosted by Amy Smart and Carter Oosterhouse, featuring cooking demonstrations (including one by me!), culinary conversations, and tips from sommeliers.
